# Connect your AI assistant to Free AI For That

Last updated 21 October 2026. Web page: https://freeaiforthat.com/ai-connector

Free AI For That has a connector for AI assistants. Once you add it, ChatGPT, Claude and other apps that support MCP (Model Context Protocol, the standard way to plug tools into an AI assistant) can look up our list of free AI tools while they answer you. It's free, needs no account, and only reads our public catalog.

## Connector address

```
https://freeaiforthat.com/mcp
```

Remote MCP server, Streamable HTTP. No sign-in or key is needed: if your app asks how to sign in, choose "No sign-in" or "None".

## How to add it

### Claude

1. On claude.ai or in the Claude app, go to **Customize > Connectors** and click **Add custom connector**.
2. Paste the address below, keep **No sign-in**, and click **Add**.
3. In a chat, open **+ > Connectors** and check that Free AI For That is on.

Address:

```
https://freeaiforthat.com/mcp?via=claude
```

Works on every plan; the Free plan allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds it under **Organization settings > Connectors**.

## What it can do

- **Find free AI tools for a job** (`find_free_ai_tools`): The tools that fit a task, ranked by how much you get free, with the limits, the catch and how to start.
- **Check whether a tool is free** (`check_free_plan`): What its free plan includes, its limits, and when we last checked it.
- **Free alternatives to a tool** (`find_free_alternatives`): Free options instead of a paid or popular tool.
- **Compare free plans** (`compare_free_plans`): Two to four tools side by side.

## Questions to try

- "What's a free AI tool to remove image backgrounds?"
- "Is Canva free, and what are the limits?"
- "What are free alternatives to Grammarly?"
- "Compare the free plans of ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini."

## How answers are made

- Answers come from the same catalog and checks as this site. Each tool says when we last checked its free plan and links to its page here, where the vendor's own pricing source is.
- Free plans change, so check the vendor's pricing page before you rely on one.
- Tools whose makers paid to be listed are left out of the connector's answers. So are tools that offer uncensored or adult content, and tools built to pass AI-written text off as human-written.
- The connector only reads. It can't change anything, and it doesn't call any other service.

## What it sends and keeps

- The connector receives only what your assistant sends when it looks something up: the task, the tool names or websites you asked about, and the app's name.
- We don't store these lookups or link them to you. Vercel, our host, keeps its standard request logs.
- Links in its answers carry tags (such as `utm_medium=ai_assistant`) so we can count visits from each assistant. A visit through one is like any other visit to the site.
